Those are fine words and noble sentiments. How tragic it is that the US
government is now the *worst enemy* that personal freedom faces today.

Do you really believe that, or are you just hoping that some radical
leftist-"liberal" will come along and pat you on the head for reciting it
properly?

And what about Bush's new catch pair; that he wants to promote "liberty
and
freedom"? What's the difference between them? I heard Condoleeza Rice
repeating it recently too, and wondered; what's the difference?

It is true that the two words are often used interchangeably. While they are
related and even overlapping in meaning, they aren't quite the same.

Freedom is the state of not being imprisoned, enslaved, or (by extension)
subservient to royalty, etc.

Liberty has more to do with the right to do or choose some kinds of things.

An example of the difference would be the convicted felon who completes his
sentence and is released. He has his freedom back, but not the same
liberties he had before conviction, e.g. he cannot legally own a firearm and
in many states cannot vote.

Dear Nostrobino:
Do you disagree or are you a right wing republican fascist hoping that
another like minded cretin will agree with you?

Zero interest in martial arts (I'm too old and lazy, and my self-defense
preference is a 9mm Beretta anyway), but I salute you for your views and
sentiments in general.

I carry too.

Ok, I guess I'll try this on Ebay and see what I can do.

I have a Minolta 650si that I'm about to try to sell, and forgot how much

it
cost originally. I wanted to put the original price in my auction. It has

the
date time option and panorama. Does anyone recall how much they
originally
retailed for with the standard 50 AF lens?

Good for you, Melissa. It's fortunate that we're both from states that allow
this. Many others are not so lucky.

You didn't answer the question. Do you really believe that "the US
government is now the *worst enemy* that personal freedom faces today"?
You're an admirer of Fidel Castro, Kim Jong-il, et al., and their communist
paradises, I take it? Wish we were more like them, do you?

To answer *your* question, I'm a lifelong registered Democrat. However, I
was a Democrat before the party became dominated by the p.c. whiners and
looney malcontents who are running it today. You can think of me as a Zell
Miller Democrat, or a Harry S Truman Democrat. It should go without saying
that I haven't voted for a Democratic president in recent decades.

And by the way, fascists were left wing, not right wing. Read Hitler's "Mein
Kampf" and see for yourself. You'll love his ideology, as most of it
comports nicely with Democratic ideology today. Likewise Mussolini, who was
a socialist, anarchist and marxist before he became a fascist (not much of a
switch there).

Quote"It's a great camera but I suspect most people are just going digital."
You're right, I just went digital, I bought the Kodak CX 7300 for 144 euro
complete with 128 MB card battery charger and 4 Ni-Cd batteries.I have now
the same enthusiasm for photography as when I got my first fujica 110 film
camera with flash or the Minolta Freedom my aunt brought me from Canada or
the SLR Nikon FM-2 I bought in '92.I gave away all my old stuff;I wouldn't
bother to set up an ebay account to sell something no one wants anymore.I
was bored throwing away the bad chemicals and paying an arm and a leg for
films, developing etc.just for 5 good shots out of 36.

Normally I consider any site with the word blog in the title an anathema
however I may well become a regular reader of yours. You've got a damn
good head on your shoulders.

Thanks.

I wouldn't say the worst, I'd reserve that for N Korea, China, Al Qaeda,
Fidel...

But certainly far from the best friend.

And what about Bush's new catch pair; that he wants to promote "liberty

and
freedom"? What's the difference between them? I heard Condoleeza Rice
repeating it recently too, and wondered; what's the difference?

Best speed and best wishes on your worthy endeavour! You go girl!

Thanks you.

Please excuse my gross error at not noticing that you have already
crossposted to rec.photo.misc as well as several other NG's. I am unable
to find an answer to your question but none of the auctions for your
model camera at ebay has the retail price listed so I wouldn't worry
about it. Don't give your camera away.

That was what I was afraid of actually. I think I paid close to $1000 for
the whole kit originally ( I have a big carry bag, Tamron 20-200

Aspherical
abd several other goodies ) and I'm shocked at how low the Ebay prices

are,
especially when I just sold a beat up old 8080A suitcase microlab that
someone gave me for free, for $157 on Ebay.

There are several companies who
buy used cameras. Contact http://keh.com/ http://www.adorama.com/ or
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ and ask them what they will give for your
camera or what would they ask for your camera if they had one for sale.

My experience with people who buy used stuff, is that you can usually
expect 10 cents on the original dollar.

Good Luck. Just curious but what camera are you looking to buy after you
sell yours?

I'm actually into digital now, I picked up a used Coolpix 4500 ( yes, used
on Ebay for $330 ) which I just love to death, and Costco had a sale
recently for a HP Photosmart 7760, which prints awesomely on glossy photo
paper, so no more film developing waits for me.

And that probably explains why the 650si's are going for so little now.
It's a great camera but I suspect most people are just going digital.

Although I am not from the states, I love USA as if it were my homeland. Many
good things come from USA, including movies, processors, operating systems,
music, democracy.If there wasn't microsoft (yes!microsoft) I wouldn't be
having the japanese editor installed.Try to find japanese for linux, it's
not possible. And if there wasn't kodak, I wouldn't be having an excellent
digital camera only for 100 euro.
