Default Help..Digital vs film for small (35mm) and medium (2 1/4) format?

Need some advice on what’s currently the state-of-the-art in digital and if that’s
comparable to Nikon F and Blad 500C for Pro print work. When last I earned a
living (sorta) in photography I used Nikon and Blad. Now after a long absence and
having long since disposed of all equipment, I’m considering taking the plunge again.
If you're gonna be dumb, ya gotta be tought!
My question is; is digital there and worth all the bucks, or not? All input
will be greatly appreciated.
