DSLRs will keep coming out with a couple megapixels more every year so

Resolution in pixel terms is relatively of no consequence past a certain
point. Perhaps at some point what the sensor is able to capture will
exceed the lenses ability to hide its own flaws. This already happens
with high end digital backs.

That said the camera makers probably have the next 30- fifty years
mapped out in terms of releases.
