Should I crop them vertically to show off the wide angle?


Cropping vertically isn’t going to show off the wide angle. What you need
to do that is a horizontal crop using a wide aspect ratio such as 9:16, or
10:16.

In some of them the sky is much brighter than the ground. it draws my
eye away from the ground.
