.avi files on DVD player
I want to take the .avi movie files from my digital camera, burn them
onto a DVD and play the DVD in a standard DVD player. Is this possible? I can't seem to find a straight forward answer and it's driving me crazy! Thanks so much. |

You'll need to use some sort of software to turn the .avi file into DVD video (MPEG, usually) then burn to a DVD so the player can read it. Easiest way to do this is to get one or another of the many video editing packages. Not "MPEG, usually"... MPEG, always. If they're small enough, you can convert to MPEG-1 at 352x240 resolution, 29.97Hz framerate, and burn to VideoCD format on a standard CD-R (up to about 70 minutes). DVD Video standard is MPEG-2. In either case, you can't just drop the files on a disc; the disc has to be burned in the proper format by the proper software. I use NeroVision Express. --- THIS TAG ADDED FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF ****ING OFF THE SELF-APPOINTED USENET POLICE. EAT MY SHORTS, PIGS! avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. .avi files on DVD player
Use Nero 6.0x, choose DVD as the media in the top center of the window.
Find the icon that looks like film material, then choose to create your own video. It opens up a screen "explorer window type", find the avi file you are trying to view. What you will end up doing is changing the avi to a DVD type of file the player can read. There are lots of steps, but use help in nero about making your own video and it will make sense as you read. Try it on some downloaded avi file a few times so you don't screw up your original. I do it all the time. Don't have any other programs running, it hogs all the processor, and it's better if you have a dual core machine with at least 2GB's of system memory. Old Man River. "Bill Funk" wrote in message ...
