Default Bogen 486 ball head - enough for Nikon 300/f4

I'm considering purchasing a Bogen 486 compact ball head but I'm not sure
if its size is enough for my equipment. The biggest lenses that I'll put on
it are a Nikon 300 f4 or 80-200 2.8. Bogen's specs say that it'll hold up
to 13.2 pounds but does anyone have any experience with the head? I'd like
to keep the ball head size around 1 pound because I'll be walking a bit
with it.

Thanks.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago.....I bought the 486 by
mistake, and had to give it back and purchase the 486 RC2 which had the
quick release device attached. I needed the compact size because I mount it
on a window clamp and attach it to my car window when it's raised about 2
inches. This is a great little head, and it is strong enough to hold my F5
which is a 2-1/2 lb. camera. Of course, I remove the rig before I try to
drive away, because a bump in the road would likely break my side window.

I've got the 486 RC2. It creeps more than I like at low tension, with a 10D
and the 75-300 IS mounted. Aim high, tighten slightly, let it creep down
and lock it in. It does stay put after it is locked down but that initial
creep is frustrating.

Anyone have a 488 head or compare it to the 486? That extra couple
of pounds capacity make a difference?

I have a 488RC4. I like it. I have mounted my 1250mm ETX90 w/ a Canon
300D. That worked OK... not great, but OK. I get minimal camera shake from
mirror slap.
