I found a series of auctions for the Nikon D1x with these
"Restricted Auctions". The sellers claimed to be from Spain
even though his auction claimed to be Canadian. When you
contact the seller to request to be on the approved bidder
list. They would make an effort to get you to send funds
directly to them. I ultimately decided that these so called
"restricted auctions" were a crock. I looked for a way to
complain to ebay but the only option I found was their
"forum". When I posted my report to the forum, I received a
tersely worded response from eBay that I was in violation of
their user agreement. Seems they were more interested in the
"rights" of fraudulent sellers that in the rights of their
victims.

If you want to post which ones are fraudulent, I have a direct line of
contact with ebay through the powerseller program. I'll have em
yanked.

If the price is too good to be true (buy it now price), and they can't
answer questions about their equipment, and the pictures are ripped
off other sellers, proceed with caution. Especially if their feedback
consists of (B)s as buyers, and then suddenly selling a high number of
high end camera equipment with no reasonable explanation or proof of
authenticity.

There have been a number of reports about fraudulent D1xs and other
high end camera equipment on ebay.

Have a look at brand new eBay address of tricksters:
Have a look at these eBay auction sites:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2944618626

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2944663023

They are shams. Control their feedbacks and auctions. It is very
transparent.
