FA: Late-run Rolleiflex Automat (I think), but see inside
This Rolleiflex TLR has serial No. 797211. My McKeown's indicates
that it is therefore a late-run 1937-1939 Automat model, (last Automat was no. 805,000), and indeed, it has Automat characteristics: Zeiss Tessar f3.5 75mm lens Bayonet mount on taking lens only Compur-Rapid shutter 1-500, B, T and self-timer Auto film counter -- no ruby window. Knurled wheels for f-stop and shutter speed No sportsfinder However, there is also an "International Flash" synch on the knob side. This feature is not listed in the McKeowns until much later models -- so go figure -- Automat or not? In any case, this camera operates perfectly. You could load some 120 film in it and start shooting. The shutter speeds sound good. The glass is clean and without flaws. F-stops work well, focus racks well, etc. However it does have two cosmetic issues: extensive paint loss around the viewing hood, and scuffed leather toward the bottom of the back --a little shoe polish would probably fix this. The camera comes with its original leather case -- aslo scuffed and torn but complete. This is a camera with a lot of character -- it works much better than it looks.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MESE:IT |

This is a Type 2 Automat. It is the same as the Type 1 with the
addition of the safety lock on the shutter. The Type 3 had the bayonet mount added to the viewing lens, too.
