where's the contradiction? i don't see anything strange in a pentaxian
using a nikon body as a weight for straightening out developed film.

actually, i strongly believe that to this day the strange disparity
between the sales numbers of nikon bodies (reportedly beat canon) and
the relative density of these bodies in the wild (loose to canon at
about 3:7) is actually explained by the popularity of nikon bodies for
alternative uses: paper weights, door stops, film straighteners, jewelry
boxes, etc...

Am I correct to interpret from the placement of those
cameras vs the placement of the fruit, that the maxxum 9 is
a lemon? The hassy is a green lemon - environementally
friendly lemon?
There must be something significant about an apple...

I'd actually made the same observation myself - I see lots
of Canons in the wild, a fair number of Pentaxes, a small
number of Nikons, and hardly ever see anything else
(Sony/Minolta, Olympus etc).

According to sales figures, Nikon and Canon are fairly even
and between them they make up something like 95% of the
market. Despite that, I seem to see more Pentax in the wild
than Nikon. Maybe all those Nikons are kept snug and safe in
studios.

According to the numbers sold in ebay,
it must be all studios...

Some recent figures put Nikon and Canon at a combined 82% of the market.

In the wild I see a lot of them, but I also see the odd Pentax and a
fair number of Maxxum's and not too few Sony alphas. I have not seen
many Oly's at all.

When I looked at the image afterwards, I wondered if anyone would make
any such comparisons.

The Hasselblad is a fantastic, if simple, camera; it's what all MF
cameras want to be at minimum. It is the simple daily fruit. The apple.

The Maxxum 9 is a fantastic camera; it's what any Hasselblad really
wants to be if it could be done in MF. It is the lime: A staple in the
kitchen of the well prepared cook and photographer.

The Maxxum 7D is 'darned good' but has a variety of nits including a
somewhat slow shutter release. For that it is (mildly) a lemon.
