I have a Tetenal C-41 kit but the directions does not give the agitation times for the stabilizer bath. Does anyone know? BTW, how many 135-24 films to process per run (up to a maximun of 4 runs) in the C-41 1 liter kit?

Ron,

Stabilizer is basically a dunk and forget solution. No need to agitate and by all mean, do it in a container saved just for this purpose (like a beaker or something you bought from the 'Rubbermaid' section of the supermarket). Stabilizer contains wetting agents (like: Kodak Photo-Flo, et al) and can leave a film on reels and containers that is hard to get off and will reduce the surface tension of the next solution used in the tank. Washing does not always remove all of it. May not always be a bad thing to do this (reduce the surface tension), but it will begin to build up and if it's on the reels, then they may become difficult to load.

I've been using Tetenal C-41 chemistry for years and for the stabilizer in that and the E-6 process, I fill the container with the stab, remove the film from the reel and drop the film in for at least the one minute time. I gently swirl the solution around with a stirring stick to make sure the film gets fully immersed in the solution and the container I use hold 3 liters (filled with 2 liters of stab) so I can put all the rolls in at once. When I remove the film from the stab, I hang in my drying cabinet (it has a catch tray) and rinse with Demineralized water from a bottle I picked up for this purpose. I think the bottle is sold in many auto parts stores for filling batteries (plastic squeeze bottle with plastic tube bent at a downward angle).

Tetenal C-41 kits will process 36-48 135-36 per liter depending upon the film speed (400 and above uses the developer up faster). 136-24 is 33% less surface area so it would be safe to assume you could go 48-64 135-24s. To answer your question; how many rolls can you fit in your tank? The math says you can process 12-16 rolls per run and perform 4 runs. You must extend the processing times for additional rolls. The chart supplied with the kit tells you when and by how much.
