Default Arizona wildflower conditions

Local experts are expecting an exceptional wildflower bloom due to
heavy winter rains but it's still too early. Several Az State Parks
are posting near-daily photos of current blooms so you can actually
preview conditons instead of relying on written descriptions.

Here are a couple of sites of interest ...

http://www.azstateparks.com/pressrel...cams_prls.html
(press release describing current conditions etc)

http://www.azstateparks.com/wildflowers/picachowf.html (photo site from
Picacho Peak State Park, roughly 1/2 way between Tucson and Phoenix off
I-10 ... typically one of the best spots in Arizona in a good year)

http://www.azstateparks.com/wildflowers/dutchmanwf.html (Lost Dutchman
State Park, located about an hour east of Phoenix at the base of the
Superstition Mountains. Another great area when in bloom).

Typically the other non-park areas bloom in cycle with Picacho and
Dutchman ... we were at a hotspot near Saguaro Lake yesterday (just
north of Dutchman) and I would rate the poppy bloom a 2 on a 1-10 scale
since there are only isolated patches blooming, but the hills are green
with plants ready to blossom when the rains stop and the temperatures
warm up 10 F.
