Default A3 or A4 paper

Hey group,

I hope this isn't a stupid question! I have a camera that references to A3
and A4 size papers. What are they?

Halon

Hi Halon,

Not a stupid question at all. This explains it pretty well:

You can still get Foolscap and Quarto if you search, those were Proper paper
sizes, not this A stuff dumped on us by the European Union.

The A-formats for paper are worldwide standard in all civilized metric countries
outside the American world. The basis is a sheet of paper with 1 square meter
surface and a ratio of sides of 1 to root two, i.e. 1.41 .

If you fold it, the ratio is maintained (mathematics!!). Fold it once, then you
get A1. Fold it 4 times for A4. It is roughly 8 x 11 inches. It is a few
millimeters narrower that letter format and a few millimeters longer.

Thanks for that bit if information. I always wondered where the
