Default DVD+R vs DVD - R

Question: Since I have had great success in moving from
Panasonic's uncompressed "SP" (Standard Play, I believe) to "LP"
(Longer Play) I have not had a problem with fitting even 3+ hour
movies onto a single layer disc. In most of the time now, I
record in an even higher lever compression mode called "EP"
(Extended Play). When I record something I view as important,
e.g., a commericial free movie on TCM, I use LP but if I am
recording, say, a seres of American Muscle Car where high quality
isn't really available or required for my 61-year-old eyes, I use
"EP" for that and can pack many, many episods on one disc.

So, since this works so well, in your view, would I be OK
continuing to do this or do you believe from your experience,
which I have found is both considerable and beyond my technical
level, that dvdshrink is superior?

Hello, Jerry:

Thanks, for the compliment -- however, it's mostly undeserved, as
my "technical experience" is somewhat less than "considerable," in
all honesty. ;-)

Also, is dvdshrink intended to copy a movied from DVD to DVD or
DVD to the HDD of my DVD in highly compressed mode and then to
DVD, or can it also compress movies, TV shows, whatever I have
recorded from cable TV directly to my HDD or both?

Thanks again for your help.

You're welcome, and I hope that John Navas answered your above
queries, sufficiently.

Cordially,
John Turco
