External shutter on Canon SD110 isn't flush...

I got a Canon SD110 a bit ago, and I just noticed that
whereas my friend's camera (an SD100) has an external shutter
that meets flush (the two edges are aligned perfectly), the
one on mine meets almost-but-not-quite flush... that is,
there is a *slight* angle at which they meet, so there's a
crack of an opening that widens at one end. Nothing horrible,
but definitely a place where dust or moisture could enter.

Would anyone out there find this a reason to return the unit?
Or am I just being far too anal?

I'd say the answer to both questions is yes. Someone out here would
return a camera with this problem even if the camera was otherwise
perfect. But I wouldn't.

The automatic lens protectors on many Canon P&S models (certainly the
S410 and A80, and probably SD110) are thin light pieces of plastic, not
particularly robust and certainly not precision machined. They provide
some protection for dirt, and they're convenient, but I'd never trust
them to keep (for example) fine sand out of the lens. Mine don't meet
absolutely parallel either, but I figure they do their job well enough.

Basically, nothing mass-produced is absolutely perfect. I figure that
if this is the worst defect on a camera that otherwise works fine, I
should hang onto it. Exchanging it means getting a new camera that
might have perfect lens cover alignment (particularly if I check for
that at the store), but it could have a hidden defect somewhere that
might take a while to find. Overall, it might be better than the first
camera - or it might be worse.

So: if there's a real functional defect, I get it fixed. Cosmetic
defects I generally live with.
