Another passes on...

Francesco Scavullo, the glamour photographer who created the "Cosmo" look,
died. Loved those covers, hated the magazine.

I have to admit I hated his photography - but he certainly was a talent and
at what he did was one of the best.

Yes, he really had an identifiable style, and influenced probably more
people than would admit it.

Whenever an old friend of mine, from whom I rented my first flat in London,
was ill the best thing you could give her to cheer her up was a copy of
Cosmo - I remember her sprawled on the sofa laughing herself silly with it.
Then I used to give my commentary on the pictures, which would have her
laughing all over again.

It thought his pictures suffered from a severe case of the Wurlitzer Effect;
but you have to give him credit: he worked at what he loved till the day he
died. We should all be so lucky.
