Default bisecting a photo with PS

I want to cut a photo exactly in half -right down the middle top to bottom-
using Photoshop 5.0. It seems like it ought to be easy, but I'm not sure of
the best way. Can somebody help. Thanks.

Define bisect- do you actually want to cut the image in half down the middle
and dispose of the other half, or do you want to crop it? Or simply draw a
line? If it's the latter, PS has a line tool. Circa 5.0, I imagine it was a
bitmap line as opposed to a vector, so it's easy. The second would involve
using the crop tool, while the first would be a matter of making a selection
of the half you want to clear and press "backspace" or use "Clear" in the
edit menu.

If you want to put one half on one layer and another on a seperate layer,
instead of pressing "Clear", press "Cut" then "Paste".

1) Duplicate the image
2) Open the "Canvas Size" dialogue
3) Click the left/middle square at the bottom
4) Set Width to 50 and Percent
5) Click "OK"

6) Highlight other image
7) Repeat #2 to #5, except click on the right/middle square at the
bottom

Make an action out of this so that it is only one step next time.
