Default is it possible to shoot 120 rolls with a 220 back?

since it seems to me that used a24 magazines for v-hassies are cheaper
than a12, i was wondering if one could shoot 120 rolls using a24
backs. i still don't own an hasselblad and i've never seen an a24
back: this is why i was wonderind if i could save some money buying a
couple of a24 backs instead of the more expensive a12 ones.

i understand that a24 perhaps should be more expensive, but probably
there's more market for a12 and average price for the latters are
usually higher --here in italy--.

thanks in advance for your help.

regards,

Nope. 220 film doesn't have the paper backing for the full length of
the roll. 120 film is too thick to go through.

An emphatic "nope" to your "nope"!
;-)

The backing paper will make the film thicker. But not too thick at all.
Spacing will be wide, and you will only get 11 frames on a roll. But that's
all.

So yes, you certainly *can* run 120 film through 220 backs.

Makes me wonder what backs the nay-sayers were using. Or were they just
pulling facts from their butt again?

Well, if you're wondering if the "nay-sayers" had it wrong, the answer is
yes, they had it wrong.
Whether that involves pulling things from places i doubt very much.
