Are you relying on the URL for that information

Good point, as I suspect diytrade is not the most accurate and up to
date source for this kind of information. Anyway, who cares?

The prejudiced communistic troll is simply trying to stir up
something.

And yet whose the one sticking up for the commie Chinese?

Those communists have adapted capitalism, banking systems and all. OTOH
you are a subversive who seeks to undermine our way of life through the
spreading of FUD.

On high-end products, I've often seen diffences between Japanese-made

variable-quality kit lenses are probably "safe" to be made in China,
but watch out when the D3s and 70-200mm f2.8's are beginning to come
from China. The D7000 falls somewhere in the middle.

The Chinese are already successfully running silicon foundries.

Camera are a low-tech joke by comparison.

Not to mention their fairly complex space program.

You can probably figure it out for yourself if you break down the terms he
uses. Take "the commie Chinese", for example. That's Andersonian jargon for
"the most ruthlessly capitalistic nation on earth".

When I was in Cuba on a government-sponsored visit 20-some years ago
one of the tour guides referred to Americans as "you running dog
capitalistic warmongers". It was such an over-the-top comment to make
on a tour bus full of Americans that I thought she was joking, but she
wasn't.

"Running dog", BTW, is a translation of the pejorative Chinese term
meaning lackey.

If I was a dog in China, I'd be running too!

Everybody seems to be taking seriously Rich's original claim (that the
D7000 is made in China), which is pretty odd in itself. Does that mean
the D7000s sold in the US (& Canada) are made in China?

Mine is clearly stamped "Made in Thailand", like my D200 and all my
lenses that aren't stamped "Made in Japan". We (New Zealand) have a Free
Trade agreement with China. How come we get fobbed off with product
outsourced to Thailand while Americans get the genuine Chinese-made
article?

No, not quite everybody:

"Are you relying on the URL for that information Good point, as I suspect
diytrade is not the most accurate and up to date
source for this kind of information. Anyway, who cares? "

Rich NEVER checks his sources and I NEVER get excited by his posts. Mostly
inane crap.

I can't take that idiot seriously. Both my D200 & D300 were made in
Thailand. Some of my lenses were made in Japan and some in Thailand. I
am not about to check each one. ;-)

Japan is a high-cost production country. So. long ago, they went to cheaper
countries and let their ware be produced there.

And the Red-hina-Men are corrupt as can be. The mighty still rule like the
ancient cesars. They only wear other cloths.
