Perhaps you should start with a beginner's camera, such as the Canon
EOS 350D (Rebel RT) or Nikon D70, and work upwards from there.

There is a lot to like about the 1Ds Mark 2, but out of curiosity what
are you looking for that the 20D is not giving you?

well i am considering the 1dsmark2 mainly because i am going to be shooting
sills for a feature film .. and with the 20 d i am afraid i will not be able
to make as many blow ups because of the resolution ..as the film publicity
posters wiould require larger files.

I am a huge fan of digital cameras, but unless you are going to be
shooting a lot of stills for movies posters a MF camera would be more
cost effective. The 1Ds Mark 2 will be in many ways a lot easier to
use and avoids the need to scan the film later, but it has a pretty
high price tag, as you well

You're going to be shooting window sills for a feature film and you can't
even write or post properly? Damn, the film industry must be dropping their
standards.

Keep digging your own hole. Maybe someday you'll figure out how to use
Usenet. Or maybe not.
