Default Action shot with new D40

Captured some nice action shots today with my new D40..... however
something went terribly wrong with the stunt. The dude is alright,
just a few broken bones and a concussion.

Kids, don't try this at home....

Good thing he didn't bite his tongue off!

How do you like the D40?

How do you like the D40?

Happy camper so far. This camera is getting me back in the saddle with
photography. I lost interest for the last 10 years. My point & shoot
camera really didn't give me the sense that I was really taking
photographs, I was simply shooting pics.

I like the fact that the D40 feels really solid, yet it's so
lightweight and balanced.... also like the large LCD along with simple
buttons & menu. With the low price and the fact my old Nikkor lenses
work with it, the choice was a no-brainer for me.

Thanks Pete. I'm thinking about one for my wife who is a point-and-shoot
person, but the shutter lag is a real drag when shooting two young boys.
I'm not sure I can get her to overcome her aversion to anything more
complicated. I have a D200 and she won't touch it.

Maybe I need to take her out for a test drive!

Enjoy.

Careful. If she gets to like your D200 you might not get it back.

The plan is to let her try the D40 while explaining how technically
challenging the 200 is.

Exactly THO.

I see the D40 as a good substitute for a point-and-shoot for someone like my
wife, while being a great option for those who are more sophisticated and
who want a quality digital DSLR.

It's no that I disagree with you about the functionality of the two cameras
in full "auto" mode, Ed. It's just a lot of camera for her to handle.

I don't get this. If she won't touch a D200, why would she touch a D40?
Set

Maybe because its heavy camera designed for people with large hands and
the D40 is half the size and much smaller??

the D200 at standard settings and in Programmed Mode and it's as
automatic
as the D40.
