Heat and NiMH cells
If I keep some Kodak low self discharge AA cells in my car, how
would the high temperatures effect the self discharge rate of the cells? Thank you in advance for all replies. -- Whenever I hear or think of the song "Great green gobs of greasy grimey gopher guts" I imagine my cat saying; "That sounds REALLY, REALLY good. I'll have some of that!" |

Thank you in advance for all replies. The warmer the temperature, the faster they will discharge. Do you have any idea how much faster? That's a tough question as interior car temperatures can exceed 140 F. Depends on where you live and the season and the time left sitting on the asphalt and .... |

It's usually exponential for every degree above the battery's optimum operating temperature. If they get really hot, their own self-discharge just makes them hotter. I've seen standard NiMH go dead in a single extremely hot day. Kodak's web site may have technical data available. -- I will not see your reply if you use Google. |
