Newbie question for Pictureperfect

Just installed Pictureperfect for my nifty new Nikon D40X.

I see it places the folder where it does it's thing under c:\Documents and
Settings\...

Is there a way I can place the Pictureperfect folder under some other
location on my 'C' drive; I never use Documents and Settings (reason is I
like to keep everything under one folder called '$DATA" on my C drive that I
can copy in it's entirety and move ALL my user data), and I don't see any
option either when I installed the software or going through its run time
options to change.

Really not a fan of software that doesn't give me options on where to place
data files. It did allow me to choose where the PROGRAM files would go on
the installation, but not the data files.

Reasonable question. When I connect the D40X to the computer, windows
allows an option simply to copy the files to a folder of my choosing so I
could indeed do that as well. (Also, I don't have a card reader on the
computer, only on the printer.)

Reason is that I thought to use the supplied software (maybe wrongly?) that
Pictureperfect provides you with a better manipulation of the images, both
in actual modification as well as tagging and creating meta-data tags. The
method you suggested (and I used to do with my old Canon non-SLR digi)
simply sticks the jpegs in a folder just like any other data items without
regard to any content.

If it is then go to "File" - "Picture Project Transfer" - click on
"Options" - select tab - "Transfer destination" and you will find
"Transfer destination folder".

However, personally I never use the "transfer from camera" but find it
_MUCH_ more convenient to just plug the memory card into a card reader.

I don't see any
option either when I installed the software or going through its run time
options to change.

It's an odd place for such a configuration setting, but at least it's
explained in the help and the tutorial.

Well, choosing the photo location is not really a program installation

You can buy a USB card reader for less than $20. You use Windows Explorer
to copy files to wherever they should go.
You can rename files in Windows Explorer to suit your own requirements.

As for manipulating the images, there are lots and lots of programs around.
Nearly all of them do a better job than
PP.

Well, choosing the photo location is not really a program installation
issue, is it?

Jue - Thank you very much for this; yes, the program is indeed
PictureProject, and although I did try to use the HELP file to locate such
an option, I didn't find it. I followed your path and lo and behold, it's
fine.

One thing is that I still wish they asked where yout DESTINATION files might
be located during installation. There are programs that do that so that
before you fire it up the first time, you are allowed to have previously
pointed to where your data files are to be located. So all is well.

Jim - I'll check into the reader option at the store later today, thanks for
the tip. And yes, I realize there are other programs (been reading a lot
lately on some of the offerings from Adobe), but as a newbie, this one
seemed reasonable and since it came with the entry-level DSLR I bought, what
the heck!?
