Default What's a picture worth?

A friend tossed a paying photo job my way, but I don't know what money to
ask for. I've been invited to take mugshots of an office of 25 people for
their business website. They need digital photos only, no prints. To do
the job I'll probably have to visit their office two or three times, setting
up a backdrop and some lights each time, and then taking maybe three head
shots of each person.

So how much money should I ask to be paid?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Were I to do such a job possibly on a regular basis, presuming I was
any good at the job, I should look for a yearly income of $100000 AUS.

Based on a 30 hour week you would have 1560 hours working per year and
that would work out at $ 64 per hour, all in Aussie dollars. Work
something out on that basis.

Tell them to make you an offer. This should demonstrate a "low bid" on
their end. Then, tell them you were thinking about 2 or 3 times that
amount.

What a silly way to do business, add up the time taken and multipy by your
hourly rate = final invoice cost.

$100 per hour X 5 hours work = $500 add state or country taxes and there is
the price.

You are in the same category as any other skilled operator.

Work out how long it is going to take you, from leaving home until
returning, and include any time you anticipate spending in front of the
computer. You then multiply this by the sort of hourly rate charged by, for
example, the people who service your car, or repair your domestic equipment
or fix your computer.

If the customer is a large Nationwide Company, then you could charge the
sort of rate you would expect to get charged in your Capital City for that
sort of work, which would probably be much higher than locally.

I do some similar work here in the Scotland and work out my quote at £30-£35
per hour. I give a fixed quote, not an hourly rate.
