Default OsX or MacOS - which should I go with?

Hi. I am about to make the switch from Windoze to Mac. Should I jump
right into OsX, or should I start with the original MacOS 9.*??

Thanks,

OS 9 is dead as a doornail. No new Macintosh systems will boot into it.
No new software is being written for it. All the good stuff (iLife,
Safari, etc..) only runs on OS X. Forget about OS 9.

Let me turn the question around to make it very clear. "I'm about to
make the switch from Mac to Windows. Should I jump right into XP or
should I start my switch with Windows 3.0?"

Like Win3.0, OS9 is obsolete. Unless you have a number of of legacy
apps that only run under OS9 or earlier, there is absolutely no more
reason for you to start with the old MacOS than there is for a Windows
newbie to start with Win3.0.
