a question about reducer
I can see many recipes for the reducers on google (thanks mr Knoppow for your
knowledge shared to us... i find so useful so many your recipes...) and i need to try it. i can do by myself most soups that i need but right now i don't have the hypo to test some reducing om my negatives+. The question is: Can I substitute the Hypo (or the thiosulfate) with a very diluted *normal* fixer as agefix? Thanks in advance for your replies. ciao, Stefano Bramato -- ed io imparo... |

Can I substitute the Hypo (or the thiosulfate) [in Farmer's reducer] with a very diluted *normal* fixer I do it that way. Most commonly I have a tray of fix and a tray of ferricyanide and move the print back and forth. First I do a few test runs to establish the time in the ferri: cut a test print into strips, number the strips 1-x, put them in the ferri and pull a strip in numerical order every 15 seconds and drop it in the fix. A quick wash and dry the strips in the uWave. If things happen faster than in 15 second intervals then the ferri is too strong. I shoot for 2 minutes in the ferri. It is a nice controllable time. My rule is to always _under_ reduce. -- Nicholas O. Lindan, Cleveland, Ohio Consulting Engineer: Electronics; Informatics; Photonics.
