film scanning quality
bnjlosh wrote: I have started scanning my negatives with an epson 3170 and I was wondering if there is any loss of image quality when getting these printed out vs a print made directly from the negative...just wondering... Yes, if you're scanning with a 3170 you're missing a good deal of detail. Now, whether that detail will appear in a tradional optical print is a different question, and will depend on the skill of whoever's making the print. Bottom line, and Epson 3170 is not a terribly good film scanner. You can do much better. but it will cost you. rafe b. http://www.terrapinphoto.com |
