Hasselblad 40 f/4 CF lens info sought
I'm closing in on a 40 f/4 for my 500 C/M. Opinions on this lens? Thanks, Alan. -- -- r.p.e.35mm user resource: http://www.aliasimages.com/rpe35mmur.htm -- r.p.d.slr-systems: http://www.aliasimages.com/rpdslrsysur.htm -- [SI] gallery & rulz: http://www.pbase.com/shootin -- e-meil: Remove FreeLunch. |

The CF FLE version you are looking at is probably the best of the bunch. The later Internal Focusing version is sharper, but has quite a bit more distortion. Good lenses all, though. |

Beautiful, beautiful lens, makes beautiful pics. Almost no distortion. Not far off from the 38mm Biogon in sharpness and lack of distortion -- and room for a mirrorbox. That's need a (minor) qualification: Almost no distortion, for a lens with such a wide angle of view. Distortion is still present: - 1% in the C 40 mm lens (good), - 1.5% in the CF version (a little bit worse), - and up to 3.5% in the latest, IF version. The Biogon has about 0.4% And some popular lenses to compare that to: - 1.3% produced by the humble 50 mm lens - just over 1.5% in the 80 mm lens - the 150 mm lens produces 0.5% For what "almost no distortion" in the Zeiss/Hasselblad lens line can mean we have to look at the 100 mm lens: 0.09%. almost 40x less than in the latest 40 mm lens. ;-) |
