newbie advice please - Canon A540 v Fuji finepix e900
Hello all
I am looking to get a new camera, lo end and have pretty much decided on either a Canon powershot A540 or a Fujifilm finepix E900. Does anyone have experience/advice of either or both of these? I've read loads of reviews and they seem to be about equal (in UK they are roughly the same price, but is the 9 megapixel fuji much better than the 6 mp Canon or does it sacrifice quality somewhere?) Cheers Mark |

Cheers Mark Going on image quality, I'd go Canon in this case. Compare test shots on http://www.steves-digicams.com I'm not against Fuji (I have a couple), but I'm not impressed with the image quality from the E900. First, shadows are quite noisy and there is a lot of grittiness at object borders. Finally there is a bit much purple fringing. The noise reduction tends to smear away detail on some objects. Canon tends to be more hands off with the NR, but you get a constant low level noise accross the image. It looks more natural than the E900. I bought the Canon A540 to replace my A610, however I was dissapointed in it. Much more noisy and the lens seemed a bit softer on one side. The A610 blew it away. -S |
