Mamiya RB67 & Flash
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone out there has experience of using a
Mamiya RB67 with a Bowens Esprit 500 set up i.e. is it ok/safe to use the synch from the Mamiya lens to one of the Bowens units? If so I take it that the flash type should be set to "X" on the lens? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Alan |

Alan Yes it is safe/ok to use the snc socket on the lens also set to X, you should also use 1/60 sec speed because of the long flash duration of studio lights jean |

Alan Yes it is safe/ok to use the snc socket on the lens also set to X, you should also use 1/60 sec speed because of the long flash duration of studio lights The Esprit 500 has a flash duration of 1/700th on full power (shorter if lower power settings are used), so slightly faster shutter speeds should be perfectly safe. I use Esprit II 500 units with the RZ at 1/125th and even 1/250th without trouble. |

yeah, RB's are old fashioned mechanical devices so you don't have to worry about the trigger voltage, those high voltage flash were made back when cameras were all chunks of brass and steel and not silicon chips and carbon fiber.
