BugBear The USA's history of keeping higher quality products and selling all factory-rejects overseas is well known. Even more well known is how some product made by a USA company has been found illegal, carcinogenic, toxic, or otherwise dangerous to human health or ecosystem destroying, so they dump the rest of production on unsuspecting overseas markets until it is gone. This also includes tainted food products recalled by the FDA. Do you honestly think that all that recalled beef in 2008, 143 million pounds of it, the largest food-recall in history, was just magically destroyed? I don't recall even one news agency reporting what happened to that beef. All USA citizens only cared about it being recalled, not what became of it. Some USA companies even continue production of these toxic or dangerous items as long as they can get away with it and have found an overseas market that will have it. I think it's about time that some other country does to the USA what the USA has been doing to other countries for over a century. Then all citizens of the USA are amazed and surprised when, after all these decades of the USA practicing this as normal business procedures, it finally happens in return. Then they have the audacity to think of any country doing this in return as "evil". Any USA citizens got their mirror handy? You might want to learn how one works. Here's how much sympathy I have for them, ---(zero)---. |

Authentic Chinese food is much greasier than the 'Westernised' versions you get outside China. Which "authentic" Chinese food is that? It's a big country with many varied cuisines. -- Ray Fischer |

Why would you want a cold beverage on a cold day? Simply because the taste of the best British beers and brewing methods have been optimised for drinking the beer at room temperature. Do you also insist that your brandy and red wine be served cold? :-) -- Chris Malcolm |

Do you also insist that your brandy and red wine be served cold? :-) As it happens, yes. "Room temperature" is considerably warmer in these days of reverse-cycle air conditioners, central heating and the like than it was even a mere century ago, and is too warm at least for red wine. I suspect it matters less with brandy. As for "best British beers", I'm reminded of a business trip many years ago which took me to London. I went to the pub with some colleagues who persuaded me to try something called "Old Wallop". They raved about it but at the end of the day it was just warm beer to me, which definition has been spoiled and should be replaced by one from the fridge at the earliest opportunity. |
