Which one to buy Canon PowerShot SX30 IS or Leica V-Lux 2

I am going to buy Canon PowerShot SX30 IS or Leica V-Lux 2 or are
there any others to think. Or are there coming better ones in a three

rec.photo.digital would be the place to go with this since you're not
asking about an SLR.

However, the V-Lux 2 is a Panasonic FZ-100 with a red dot on it. The FZ
goes for 499, the V-Lux for 639. The FZ included Photoshop Elements and
Premiere Elements and (from B&H anyway) an extra battery. If you don't
have Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements and want them it's not a
bad deal, if you already have editing software that you like the
Panasonic will save you a bit.

The price of the V-Lux is in the same range as entry level DSLRs--you
should at least consider a DSLR--it might not be a good fit for your
needs or it might.

The Canon you are looking at has a wider zoom range, a smaller, lower
resolution LCD, no uncompressed recording format, does not record
1920x1080 video, and costs a good deal less than the V-Lux. The
uncompressed recording format can be addressed with third-party firmware
called CHDK so that's not a complete negative. Not sure about the
video.

You haven's said what your needs are so it's very difficult to advise
you.

Personally I have both Panasonic and Canon equipment and both have been
reliable.
