linkbait and full of errors. stop believing everything you read.

arstechnica did a thorough review and found it to be quite good and
does not crash. healthkit was a screwup, which is why it was withheld
for a couple of weeks.

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/09/ios-8-thoroughly-reviewed/

it's slightly slower on a 4s, a 3 year old phone, which is to be
expected. however, slightly slower is still very usable, unless someone
wants to whine.

keep in mind that a 3 year old android phone more than likely can't be
upgraded to the latest at all, making it infinitely slower.

Sorry Eric, that is an anti-Apple FUD filled article coming from a
Windows centric publication, but most importantly, it isn't true.

I updated my iPhone 5S and my iPad2 to iOS8.
https://db.tt/c2UV64FO

There are a few changes, most noticeable is the way photos are
cataloged. The *Camera Roll* has been dropped from *Albums*. It has
been replaced with two new system *Albums*, *Recently Added * &
*Recently Deleted*, nothing too alarming, and it doesn't take long to
familiarize one's self with that.

As far as any degradation of performance or speed because I am using
older iDevices, that is a non-issue.

After reading Eric's link, I think I will wait to update the os on our
iPhones. nosense's reaction was predictible. You may have difference
apps than I. Besides, I am thinking of getting a 6.

eric's link is completely bogus and not supported by facts.

if you want facts, read the exceptionally thorough arstechnica review.

but you don't want facts. you want to argue. so predictable.

You may have difference
apps than I.

that makes no difference

Besides, I am thinking of getting a 6.

or that.

I still think that article is an anti-Apple FUD screed.

If you have an iPhone 4S (that is the oldest iPhone you can up grade)
it is probably best to wait until more reports come in. I have not
experienced any problems with iOS8 on my iPhone 5S or my iPad2. Most of
my apps have been updated for iOS8 compatibility, including Dropbox PS
Touch, Lightroom Mobile, Epson iPrint, MotionX GPS-Drive, and more. I
see no performance impact.

That said, go ahead and get an iP6/6+. Go for the 64GB, if you think
you need more room for videos, etc. move to the 128GB. You should enjoy
the upgrade, with what is apparently a better performing camera, and
faster processors.

I have a 5s and my wife has a 5c and an iPad. She is quite happy with
the functioning and sees no reason to upgrade. I had wanted ot wait for
the 6, and still may. meanwhile i can wait. We will eat whether I
upgrade or not.

a 5c and particularly a 5s will work quite well with ios 8 and there's
no reason to avoid the upgrade.

the only issue is with a 4s, a 3 year old phone, where ios 8 is a
little slower, but it's really minor.

For some strange reason, I cannot take anything seriously from someone
who continually refers to me in the perjoritive.

nowhere in the above post did i refer to you in the pejorative.

apparently, i should have. with each post you make, you demonstrate
that the terms i have used in other threads are an accurate
description.
