D70 USA serial numbers?
Can anyone confirm the serial numbers of US D70s? I have 39004xx. Was that US grey market to UK? If I qualify for rebate, I'd like one. -- Ken Tough |

Seemed to recall several months ago, stories in newsgroups about a shipment
of D70s stolen at a German airport. Someone was able to post the precise list of serial numbers. You might try emailing Nikon or Googling for list. Interesting. The ser# on the lens that came with my kit begins with US. The camera starts with a 3. I wonder why they just don't do the same thing with the camera body. |

For what it's worth, camera bodies are covered by national guarantees. The lenses are covered by Nikon's international guarantee. I'm guessing that serial numbering may reflect that. -- Owamanga! |

You're right. My former Nikon-FM2 was brought from USA to Greece, and the
owner wanted to sell it, because a fully-manual camera was too complicated for him.As everyone understands, there was no guarantee for it.But, the Tamron 24mm/f2.5 had one, and after fungus developed inside the lens, it was cleaned for free.I hope my current Kodak CX 7300 will not need (servicing) for a long time to go... -- Tzortzakakis Dimitri?s major in electrical engineering, freelance electrician FH von Iraklion-Kreta, freiberuflicher Elektriker dimtzort AT otenet DOT gr ?
