Default fill flash ?

Hello ..

I am a self taught photographer . I learn by experimenting and asking

I am going to be shooting outdoors using a flash light . ll i need to know what are things that i need to take care off. i.e how do i set the appeture considering that there will be other light sources as well?

Set your exposure as you would normally, assuming youwant the
background exposed normally. Then, set your flash to suit that
aperture, if you want the full effect, or maybe a stop less for a more
subtle effect.

There's possibly a LOT more to it, but you haven't told us what your
camera/flash is. An SLR will be different to set up and there are
other considerations -like synch speed- which may not apply to, say, a
prosumer digital.

If you're using a 20D and a dedicated flash, program mode will give you good
enough results in fill flash with no effort on your part.
Example, shot into the sunset:

Actually that was shot with a 10D and 420EX flash, but the 20D works the
same way.

I am going to be shooting outdoors using a flash light.

In general, I set my flash to produce less light than ambient by a factor of
one f/stop.

If my ambient reading is f/8 @ 1/60th, my camera is set to that and my flash
set to produce f/5.6.
