Default used buyers guide

Greetings,

I'm looking to buy an older, fully manual SLR, say, 1980-1990 year's model.
I'd like to do some research before I purchase and was wondering if anyone
knew of a Used Camera Buyer's Guide, either online or hardcopy.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA
Steve

There's also McKeown's (sp?) price guide. It's a couple of years old, and
not exactly current because eBay has influenced pricing severely. But it's
a useful reference and many public libraries have a copy.

If you look through most of the online forums, you'll find many discourses
on SLR cameras in this category. There are fierce Nikon and Canon loyalists,
and with good reason: an abundance of used equipment and parts available for
service of models that the factory no longer supports. All that said,
you'll ultimately want to see how a given camera feels in your hands, so I'd
also encourage a visit to a camera store with used inventory.

Personally, I have five SLR bodies, all or mostly manual -- 4 Nikons and a
discontinued Konica T-3. I use a Nikon FE more than any of the others.

Thanks to both of you for your sound advice. There are a couple of good
shops in my area that have a decent selection of used equipment and I
imagine I'll be doing some more serious perusal of what they have to offer.
I was just trying to get a decent idea on what I should be looking at
cost-wise.
Thanks again.

Steve
