Wash-Out
It was a bright sunny day in Arizona,
and I was out taking some scenics. The NIKON l4 only has the lcd screen, and it was completely blacked out by the bright sunlight. I ended up "holding and guessing", then doing lots of fixing with my computer editing program. How do YOU get around this problem ? I understand there are some after-market "hoods" that go around the lcd screen..... ???? rj |

I could do quite nicely with no LCD screen at all. I understand there are some after-market "hoods" that go around the lcd screen..... ???? rj |

There's always the good ol' palm of your hand... Make a tunnel with your hand. It would surprise me if you couldn't do that to at least get SOME view... -- Images (Plus Snaps & Grabs) by MarkČ at: www.pbase.com/markuson |

I guess I bought the "NIKON" name assuming there'd be everything I'd need for good pictures. Interestingly, a quick scan of popular P&S shows very few with viewfinders. I see an awful lot of people holding their camera at arms length to take pics. rj |

Another is the e-Film line of Pop-Up Shades from Delkin, some for specific cameras, and other "universal" shades that are designed to fit specific LCD sizes. I've seen several of these in Radio Shack stores, but a good camera shop such as B&H carries many more of them, including the ones designed for specific cameras that I don't think Radio Shack carries. http://www.hoodmanusa.com/ http://www.delkin.com/products/popupshades/index.html |

In a pinch fold a piece of copy paper in half length wise and roll it up in a loose tube. Hold the tube on the LCD so the light is mostly blocked and look thru the tube. The LCD will be too close to your eye to focus on but you can get a rough idea of field of view. |
