The unexpected twist is how vloggers have gravitated to high quality
video. One vlogger who I used to watch on occasion, Casey Neistat, was
one of the trend setters for this. He started with pretty crappy
cameras and worked his way up. His talent is in story telling and
editing. Also quite the rags-to-riches story overall - his net worth is
somewhere north of $10M - all based on vlogging and offshoots.

In the end, it takes a very compelling still image to hold someone's
attention, whereas a well done video (edit! edit! edit!) can really grab
someone's attention.
