Pretty impressive, looks like they might have caught a piece of the
jet stream or something the way the thing was tossing around at high
altitude. Also, pretty small balloon for making that kind of height.

I suspect they were way above jetstream altitude. The low pressure at
the altitude they reached will result in considerable expansion of the
balloon. That's why it burst.
