Waverly is a fair bit inland. North of there, to the east of Hopewell
is the James River National Wildlife Refuge. I've not ventured over
the west shore of the James River, but have done a lot of walking on
the east side just past Kingsmill and before Jamestown. On this side
there is a couple mile stretch you can walk on the shore for a few
hours on either side of low tide. Spring and summer there is a lot of
wildlife about early in the morning. Used to start just before sunrise
with the dog.
