What's the "leica look"?

Al makes it clear that he doesn't believe in quality glass.

If it's cheap enough for Al, it's automatically good enough.

That is because, on your own admission,
you have hardly any contact with people.

That just shows your ignorance.

Most working photographers don't have a web site, have no need of one
and don't want one. They are a waste of time and effort, resulting in
a great many spurious and time consuming "enquiries" and very few
genuine business leads.

Of course a personal web site would appear **absolutely essential** to
anyone on an ego trip, like yourself.

Maybe when your need to massage your ego diminishes, you will spend
less time posting risible and quite useless "advice" on subjects you
know less than nothing about, and more time learning the basics of
photography. Only then will you achieve even a tiny amount of ability
- the extremely basic ability that still eludes you at this time.

You are a laugh TP and skilled at twisting meanings, if little else.

You are correct that a "working photographer" who has a full time
job working for some company (eg: publication) does not need a
website. But YOU paint yourself here as a freelance or
independant photographer who is often providing stock for various
unrelated publications (calendars, etc), doing wedding and
portraits, etc. That a freelance photog of this type would not
have a website is laughable and just another indication that you
are not what you claim.

Your protests above are so much drivel and a pathetic attempt to
deceive.

Only a minority of people in general have Web sites of their own, but
more than the average percentage of photographers have one. Web sites
do not generate spurious inquiries in my experience. They don't
necessarily generate a lot of business, but what they generate is pretty
solid. Virtually all of my business comes through my Web site, but then
again I'm getting about 220,000 unique visitors per month.

And out of 220,000 visitors/month, how many useful inquiries?

What's the "Leica Look"? Why, antiquated technology and a low bank balance,
of course!

Poor Alan, you really know nothing about anything related to
photography.

For your sake I hope there is something in life - unrelated to
photography - that you are good at, otherwise God help you.

Deceitful TP. Instead of turning your attacks on me, it would
behoove you to show and prove that you have any talent at all.

Every time anyone asks you to post you come up with pompous
reasons not to post, followed by attacks on others. Stop
attacking and start defending your self declared reputation as a
photographer... on that point the only way for a photographer to
earn a reputation is to publish, show and post their images. You
are unproven. Defend yourself the only way that has any meaning:
photos.

Post your work TP, 'cause otherwise everything you write is empty
and meaningless, most especially your attacks on others.

I have no need, or intention, ever to show or prove anything to you.

You are a nothing, a nobody who thinks he is somebody, someone who
cannot take a single decent photo or (as the SI has so conclusively
proved) follow a simple brief ... and who offers the same old duff
advice to anyone who is naive enough to listen.

So why would I be in the slightest bit interested in what you think?

As for personal attacks, I am surprised that you claim I am attacking
you, when the reverse is the case. You waste *so* much effort on
pointless personal attacks on me. One tenth of the time you waste on
here would pay great dividends if you spent it wisely, learning the
basic photographic techniques that so signally elude you.

Does your stubborn pride really prevent you from seeing your own
severe inadequacies as a photographer? Heavens, even Dallas Dahms
could show you the way to improve your snapshots!

Get shooting, Alan, and try learning for a change.

In part, yes. But with 2.5 million visitors a year, there are more
people visiting the site each day than I could hope to meet in person
over several years.

Currently about a dozen.
