Can Post Processing ' Upgrade' camera??!
On the subject of upgrading cameras, say to a later, or different
version, which is said to provide better photo quality. It occurs to me that post processing images from the ealier model might have the effect of 'levelling up' the difference, so that this can catch up with the 'improvement'. I would be interested to hear the thoughts of other members. Denis Boisclair Cheshire, UK. |

None of these things can be 'upgraded' by software at a later date. The latter 2 only have an influence on the picture taken at the time the picture is taken. Upgrades or not, a good camera still takes good pictures. Don't get caught up on the upgrade cycle. Either you are a photographer, or you're a gadget geek. When your camera is old and broken, replace it. **SS** |

Dennis Not quite the same, but there was a thread in aus.photo called "Fixing Focus in post processing" recently. It may be worth checking out a couple of news items referred to there. Gerrit - Oz |

One would assume that a later camera would still outperform an earlier model if the later camera truly had better features. Just looking at three issues: (1) resolution ... upsampling is not a substitute for better sensor resolution. (2) noise ... noise reduction software is not a substitute for a lower-noise sensor. (3) dynamic range .... two or more shots can be combined to improve dynamic range, but it requires a tripod. My basic answer to your question is "no." |
