GARY FONG LOVES THE 20D !

Here's a couple of test shots I did today with strong backlighting and
fill flash provided by the 550EX (off camera) with the Gary Fong
Lightsphere.

Note the lack of harsh shadows. The flash was off to the left of the
camera, about where Mr. Divs is looking.

Ew. Yuck. Ugly ugly bokeh. Sheesh, guy, do NOT stop that lens down that far.
Bad boy, Bret.

That's better.

You really do overwork that cat. I hope he gets lots of fish.

Lovely colour and Mr Divs looks like a nice cat (yes I am a cat
person)

I think Gary Fong loves your money more than your 20D though. lol

I have never bothered spending the coin on a LS, as I get the same
results from a 20 cent bit of tracing paper.

I found the color to be very natural. What I particularly like is the
lovely highlights on Mr. Divs. This lens you've used is very nice for
portraits. I found the bokeh to be very pleasing. My choice is this
one:

I actually liked the sparkly bokeh in the first one, but then I do like
shiny things. ;-)

Why spend 20 cents, an old white grocery bag will do the job for nothing :-)

Ah.... but I have gone green and use re-usable shopping bags and you
tend to lose too many stops through those canvas suckers. ;-)

I just knew someone would say that :-)
But it's not a problem for now at least, while you can still get more
plastic ones at any supermarket.

The bokeh in the first one is only half bad: the disks have bright edges
(which is classic bad bokeh), but at least they're disks and not pentagons,
as my Fuji GS645S produces.

The lighting is gorgeous in those shots. Bret really nailed it.

I agree -- I preferred the first one. What is the source of backlight?
